Kicking Off With Kenny Logo

Happy Monday!  I'm really excited about a couple upcoming Sunday's that you will not want to miss.

Baby Dedication Day this Sunday, October 5.  One of the best things we can do as a church family is come around the families at The Crossing and pray for them and their child.  If you would like to have your child recognized this Sunday or have any questions contact our Children's Pastor Sarah Kilgore at or our Student Pastor  Come out Sunday and celebrate and pray for the fastest growing ministry at The Crossing, our babies.

Then on Sunday, October 19th we will meet at WILLIAMSBURG HIGH SCHOOL for our Life on Mission Serve Sunday.  Here's what I ask you to do, come both services if at all possible. You will worship for one service and pack meals for I.D.E.S. during the other service. The children will be working on packing shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child in their area.  This is a morning where the church will be ACTIVE - worshipping and working together to touch the lives of the hungry.  ONE OTHER THING WE ASK, would you consider as a family between now and then to fast a meal or two and take the money you would have spent and bring it that Sunday to help us pay for the food that we will be packaging in these care packages?  Check out this devotion from a couple weeks ago on fasting.  If everyone helps out we hope to assemble thousands of meals (6,000 dollars needed approximately).  This will be one of those Sunday's that we will talk about for years...  Please set aside about 2-3 hours to worship and serve on Sunday morning, October 19th at WILLIAMSBURG HIGH SCHOOL...  This is your Mission, if you choose to accept it.

Enjoy a devotion by one of the staff below that goes into more detail on how each one of us can make a BIG impact on October 19th and beyond.

Have a great week, Kenny

Giving: Blessed To Be a Blessing

My eyes were opened a few years ago when I was reading Crazy Love by Francis Chan. I don’t think of myself as someone who is rich. Our family is able to pay the bills and pay for our basic needs without scraping for pennies. We are blessed. But I didn’t realize how blessed in comparison to the rest of the world. It turns out that the average American household is richer than 99.7% of the rest of the world. That was eye opening for me.

Would you like to see where your household ranks among the world’s richest? Check out the Global Rich List.

Think about this: what if God has blessed you with much so that you can be a blessing to many? See what Paul says, "I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’” (Acts 20:35). All that you have and all that you will have is really the Lord’s. Understanding this changed my whole mindset regarding giving. “Remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth” (Deuteronomy 8:18).

You have been blessed to be a blessing. When you give, you are investing in the kingdom of God, the kingdom that will never perish. Christian giving really begins with an understanding that all belongs to God anyway. You may need to start small, but start somewhere. Our family started with giving a $20 bill each week. After I learned about God owning all, we began to tithe. When it comes to giving, I have discovered that more is better.

To help you get started in a small way or to add something small to your regular giving, you have an opportunity to be an even bigger part of our Serve Sunday on October 19th. As you continue to fast one meal a week, and spend quiet time with God in prayer, would you consider giving the amount that you would normally spend on that one meal a week? Not only will we be packing meals for I.D.E.S., but we will also be paying for those meals. If 300 of us give $20 between now and October 19th, we will pay for the meals in full ($6,000).

How awesome would it be to help send 24,000 meals to people in need all across the world? Well, it would be AWESOME! That’s what you have the opportunity to do. By giving, you will get to be a blessing to MANY. If you would like to partner with us in this opportunity by giving, you can do so through our online giving portal and put Serve Sunday in the name of event field.
