When God Stooped Down (and why this changes absolutely everything)

The needy. The broken. The hurting. The lame. The crippled. The doubtful. The sinful. The addict. The desperate. You. Me.

Have you ever wondered what kind of perspective God has? Have you ever imagined His power, His glory, His holiness, His love?

When God Stooped Down (and why this changes absolutely everything)

Have you ever considered how lowly we are, how small we really are, how helpless we all are? 7.125 billion of us are on this planet that is hurling through space on an invisible path that remains consistent at a speed of 18.5 miles per second, all the while spinning around and around at 1,000 miles per hour.

We're all on this journey together, we've all messed up royally along the way. We're all destined for eternity in utter darkness and nothingness (throw in some gnashing of teeth and other horrible things) because of the sins we have committed. Yet that's not the end of the story.

"In the beginning was the Word..." and the Word is none other than Jesus. The Word was with God in the beginning and was God. Everything was created through the Word. Then the Word became something entirely different - flesh. Why? Because of our sin. Because God cares too deeply for you and me. He cares too deeply for us little people, deep in the crevices of the Universe, to leave us to our own demise. He decided to offer us an opportunity for forgiveness. How? Himself.

God became flesh.

God became a man.

His name is Jesus.

A God Who Stoops is a God Who Loves

No one is outside of the love of God. He came to set the captive free, to heal the hurting, to bring people out of the shackles of sin they are bound by.

When we see Jesus interacting with people on earth we see Him being a friend to all kinds of people.

The doubter? His friend.

The hurting? His friend.

The sinful? His friend.

The addict? His friend.

The desperate? His friend.

Jesus is a friend of... all.

You're Not the Exception

No matter what you have been told, you're not the exception to the rule. There is none.

And this should change everything.

"Who can be compared with the LORD our God, who is enthroned on high? He stoops to look down on heaven and on earth" (Psalm 113:5-6). Who can be compared? No one. He is the God who stoops.

When you're at a loss and don't know where to turn, turn to God. When you're going through life and desire to live for a greater purpose, live for God.

God stoops to your situation and isn't afraid of your mess. He gives a promise, draw near to Him and He will draw near to you (James 4:8).

When you feel like you're alone, remember that He is stooping. When you feel like you're not loved, remember that He is stooping. When you're stuck struggling in a sin, remember that He is stooping.

This changes everything because you are not alone in this life. Your life is not over after death. You do have a purpose in this world, and it is to bring glory to God's name!

You have more to live for than you can ever imagine. You have God to live for. Every second. Every minute. Every hour. Every day. You have God to live for.

Around and around we all go, hurling through space at 18.5 miles per second, spinning at 1,000 miles per hour. We're on a tilt-a-whirl of purpose and opportunity. We're all here to do one thing - bring God glory.
